Stage 6: Mâcon/Dijon (163.5 km, flat)

Fans of medieval architecture will be in for a treat with, notably, the route via Cluny Abbey. The breakaway will set off with the ambition of holding off the peloton's pursuit though the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise, but the sprinters should have the last word on the 800-metre straight into the prefecture of the Côte-d'Or. Start in Mâcon, prefecture of the Saône-et-Loire, renowned for its wines and stage-city for the sixth time; finish in Dijon, prefecture of the Côte-d'Or, famous notably for its mustard and its historic centre, which is the second component of the wine climate of Burgundy and is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
