Le boeuf musqué à la conquête du Nunavik
Filter by subtitle language
The muskox encroaching on Nunavik
Today there are over 7,000 muskoxes in Nunavik, a territory in the Nord-du-Québec region. The expansion of this herbivorous creature is very concerning to the Inuit population since it harms the migrating caribou, an animal that is sacred to the community. To others, this imposing mammal is a new resource to be exploited.
A report from Gilbert Bégin and Julie Robert for "La semaine verte", the programme on Radio-Canada.
Guests: Gilbert Bégin, journalist at Radio-Canada; Manuel Ruedi, Curator in mammalogy at the Natural History Museum of Geneva.
Presented by: Dominique Laresche.
