Around 40% of Palestinian men have spent time in an Israeli prison since 1967. Arrests and imprisonments for political reasons have created what the anthropologist and historian Stéphanie Latte Abdallah calls a system of deferred custody. Her book "La Toile Carcérale, une Histoire de l'Enfermement en Palestine" (The Prison Web, a Story of Imprisonment in Palestine), published by Bayard, is based on an ethnographic investigation carried out over several years that followed the real-life experiences of custody that marked thousands of personal and collective stories.

Written by the historian Stanislas Frenkiel "Le Football des Immigrés. France-Algérie, l'Histoire en Partage" (Immigrants' Football. France-Algeria, a History Shared) is published by Artois Presses Université. From the first international players in the 1930s to those with dual nationality today, it shines a spotlight on three generations of professional footballers, from Ali Benouna to Zinédine Zidane, products of a turbulent history shared on both shores of the Mediterranean.

From the abstract artists of the 20th century, such as André Masson or Jackson Pollock, to those of the 20th and 21st, such as Ghada Amer, Mona Hatoum and eL Seed... The exhibition "Abstraction and Calligraphy. Towards a Universal Language" is held until 12 June 2021 at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Its curator, Didier Ottinger, explains the dialogue and reciprocal fascination between artists from both East and West who found their inspiration in calligraphy.
