"Sequana", by Souad Massi, offers an incomparable mix of traditions from both sides of the Mediterranean. Named after the goddess of healing in Gaulish mythology, this tenth album showcases eleven songs in Algerian, French and Spanish. Souad Massi will be taking part in a concert in support of the Iranian people, on 12 December 2022 at the Paris Trianon.
Her childhood in Tunisia, her dream of becoming a lawyer, defending those fighting for Tunisian and Algerian independence, the right to abortion, the repression of rape, equality... The life of Gisèle Halimi, with its battles, commitment and passion, is the subject of a graphic novel entitled "Une Farouche Liberté" (Passionate Freedom), published by Steinkis, with a script co-written by Sophie Couturier, an activist who fought alongside her in the movement "Choisir la Cause des Femmes".
In Nepal then Qatar, the photographer Frédéric Lecloux met the women whose sons and husbands left to work on the 2022 World Cup building sites. In "Au Désert. Migrations Népal-Qatar" (In the Desert. Nepal-Qatar Migrations), published by Le Bec en l'Air, he bears witness to an everyday existence where the telephone screen remains the ultimate link with their previous life.
With his exhibition of monumental works in the mountains of Morocco Mederic Turay has stepped out of the frame. More used to major American and European galleries, the artist today lives in both Switzerland and Morocco, where he has created a double exhibition between Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains, in the enclave of Oukaïmeden.
