After his immersion in the heart of hip-hop in the Lebanon with his film "Beyrouth Street" (Beirut Street), Salim Saab releases "Le Cèdre d'Octobre" (The October Cedar). His new documentary offers a voice to the activists, artists and demonstrators of all ages and all denominations who took part in the 2019 popular uprising in Lebanon. As imposed by the lockdown, Salim Saab is participating in the Arab World Festival of Montreal at a distance.
Today Rhizome does indeed have a physical presence in the heart of Algiers. Open since the beginning of November 2020, this alternative venue, a gallery, a workshop and a space for an artist in residence all combined, welcomes the exhibition "Stasis" by Bardi, until 16 January 2021. For Bardi, the deliberately deformed and caricatured human figure is a way to sublimate the present. We will be online from the Algerian capital with Khaled Bouzidi, one of the founders of Rhizome.
The collective work "Le Liban n'a pas d'Âge 1920-2020" (Ageless Lebanon 1920-2020), published by Bernard Chauveau, pays tribute to the resistance of the Lebanese photographers, artists and authors. All have kept their determination to survive, even after the seemingly endless series of crises that have struck a nation that is just a century old. Sylvie Andreu, whose first contact with the land of the cedar was the port of Beirut at the end of the 1960s, is the coordinator of this work by several authors and from several viewpoints.
#As seen by Slimane. Each week in "MOE", Slimane Zeghidour looks back at the career of a little-known personality from the Mediterranean region, uncovering the personal history behind that of the history books, from Beirut to Casablanca, or interviews the programme's guests. #Atmosphere with the guests' cultural favourites.

Guests: Salim Saab, director of the documentary "Le Cèdre d'Octobre"; Khaled Bouzidi, co-founder of Rhizome (from Algiers); Sylvie Andreu, journalist and publisher, coordinator for the collective work "Le Liban n'a pas d'Âge 1920-2020"; Slimane Zeghidour, TV5MONDE editorialist.
