An alternative to the usual clichés about Egypt, "Misr", by Denis Dailleux (published by Le Bec en l'Air), bears the Arabic name of the country the photographer knows so well. His years spent immersed in life in Cairo enabled him to capture unique moments of everyday life. Certain photographs, from the series "Les Martyrs de la Revolution" (Martyrs of the Revolution), "Mères et Fils" (Mothers and Sons) and "Tuk-Tuk", are included in the work.

Winner of the Bayard d'Or for the best film at the 37th Namur International Francophone Film Festival, "Sous les Figues" (Under the Fig Trees), by Erige Sehiri, was amongst the films in competition at the 2022 Directors' Fortnight in Cannes. Amidst the fig trees, during the summer harvest, young men and women experience new feelings, flirt and try to understand one another... Selected to represent Tunisia at the 2023 Oscars, the film is in official competition at the Carthage Film Festival.

Mariam Farid was the first sportswoman to represent Qatar at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, competing in the 400 metre hurdles. The athlete hopes to widen the field of possibilities for the up-and-coming generations in the emirate, host to the Football World Cup. A former student at the Bonaparte French high school, she now dreams of signing a contract with a Parisian club and qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dozens of authors from around the world were present in Beirut for the International and Francophone Book Fair. An unhoped-for cultural break in a country caught up in an ever-worsening economic crisis. Report by Chloé Domat and Sophie Guignon.
