Born in Montreal of Lebanese parents from Egypt, Alain Farah teaches French literature at McGill University. His book "Mille Secrets Mille dangers" (A thousand secrets, a thousand dangers), published by Le Quartanier, recounts the story of two men who grew up together in Montreal's Little Lebanon. Alain Farah is taking part in the Paris Book Fair where Quebec is guest of honour.
Born in Jerusalem, Mohamed Najem is at the crossroads of three musical cultures: oriental, classical and jazz. Inspired by the stories his grandfather, a native of Jaffa, told him, the clarinettist has created his own musical language with contemporary and oriental accents. He has just released "Jaffa Blossom", his second album (Label Ouest) and performs "Nowruz" accompanied by the pianist Clément Prioul.
"Je Suis l'Homme Aussi" (I am the man as well), closely follows a woman as she walks amidst stones, dust and wind: a woman fleeing what is growing in her belly, a woman who questions truth and absence. The anthology of poetry by Emné Nasereddine, who lived in Lebanon and Quebec, is illustrated by Poline Harbali (published by L'Appeau'Strophe).
Youssef's father has just died in France and wants to be buried in his native country, Algeria. A journey that becomes a veritable quest, changing Youssef and his life forever. Ismaël Lakehal is the director of the short film "Mon Destin" (My destiny), screened on 13 April 2024 at the Montreal Vues d'Afrique Festival.
To coincide with the Choix Goncourt de la Tunisie prize, announced on 20 April 2024, the pupils in some forty Tunisian high schools discover the works of the four finalists. Report by Sarah-Samya Anfis.
