Palácio da Fronteira

Late 1660s. Dom João Mascarenhas, 1st Marquis of Fronteira and high-ranking soldier, built a hunting lodge on the Benfica hill. And thus began a grand artistic project. A blend of European and Oriental styles it was constantly up-dated and modified over the centuries.

Le château de Bouges

Château de Bouges

Built in 1759, the neo-classical lines of the Château de Bouges contrast with the Berry's largely rustic and defensive architecture. With several different owners over the years, the château's history changed decisively with its acquisition by Renée and Henri Viguier, chairman of BHV (Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville) in Paris.
