Every year the mediaeval town of Ribeauvillé holds one of the oldest festivals in Alsace: the Pfifferdaj! Organised to celebrate the "pfiffeurs", as those who play the mediaeval flute are known colloquially. On the programme: a mediaeval market, plenty of music and a parade of floats featuring over 1,500 participants.
