That Notre-Dame shall live again!

Several months after the tragedy, how is the cathedral today?

Programme summary:

The building project of the century
15 April 2019, Notre-Dame de Paris, built in the 12th century, is engulfed in flames. The firemen manage to save it but the damage is immense. Philippe Villeneuve, architect-in-chief for France's listed buildings and in charge of the work, reveals the extent of the devastation and the cathedral's condition today.

Notre-Dame of the world
On the evening of 15 April 2019 the fire at Notre-Dame created a tidal wave of emotion around the world. One country was particularly affected: the USA. Since the 20th century, a number of Americans have demonstrated a veritable passion for the cathedral and have now become its first sponsors.

A spire for Saint-Denis
To the north of Paris, a historical project is in preparation: the reconstruction of the mediaeval spire of the Basilica of Saint Denis. The work is expected to take around ten years. Jacques Moulin, architect-in-chief for France's listed buildings, acts as our guide for a tour of this exceptional monument.
