Avalanches, what have we learnt?
10 February 1970. An avalanche killed thirty-nine people having breakfast in the dining room at the UCPA, Val d'Isère, Savoie. A terrible tragedy that led to the natural disaster prevention policy that we know today. But, fifty years on, have we really learned all the lessons of this major catastrophe?
